Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2025-10-11T08:42Z ( ACE: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
Activity ID: 2025-10-11T08:42:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by an amplification of magnetic field components with Btotal increasing from 8nT at 2025-10-11T08:42Z to 17nT at 2025-10-11T18:00Z. Around the start of this event a slow increase in density is observed, reaching ~20 p/cc at 2025-10-11T17:54Z. Following the amplification of magnetic field components and increase in density is a strong increase in solar wind speed from 450 km/s at 2025-10-11T21:30Z to ~800 km/s at 2025-10-12T05:19Z. A subsequent increase in temperature is observed from ~150,000 K at 2025-10-11T21:30Z to ~600,000 K at 2025-10-11T23:00Z. This interplanetary shock is likely associated with the arrival of a corotating interaction region preceding a coronal hole high speed stream from an equatorial coronal hole spanning S10 to N30 which reached the central meridian on 2025-10-08.
